Choose between a 2-1/2 day or a 5 day work shop designed to introduce you to wetlands and some of the more common plants found in wetlands. The workshop will take place at the Regional Science Consortium and Presque Isle State Park. Presque Isle State Park is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the state of Pennsylvania and contains numerous wetlands. This workshop will provide you a hands-on opportunity to learn to identify wetland plants and explore these unique ecosystems to give you a better understanding and appreciation of them. We will walk, wade, and canoe these wetlands during the day and further explore what we found in the evening. You will also be given an introduction to the more common algae species, as well as the problematic cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae, which has been in the news these past few summers.
